Garment Guru Coaching

Your garment-making breakthrough begins here.

For sewists who want more than tutorials and workshops, the Garment Guru Coaching Programme offers one-to-one support that meets you exactly where you are. Whether you’re just starting to sew your own clothes or you’re seeking polished, professional finishes, these coaching sessions give you focused attention from an experienced coach in a calm, creative space.

Workshops are wonderful for sharing energy and building community. But when it comes to those frustrating fit issues, nightmare sewing techniques, or the confidence gap between your vision and your skills – nothing compares to having a garment coach by your side.

Coaching Programmes

We offer three personalized coaching tiers, thoughtfully designed to support you at every stage of your garment-sewing journey – whether you’re a curious beginner, a confident hobbyist, or an aspiring sideline dressmaker.

Each tier meets you exactly where you are and focuses on the technical and mindset challenges most common at your level. From unpicking your pattern fears to refining couture-level finishes, every session delivers hands-on, practical guidance that builds confidence, unlocks new skill and leads to garments you’ll be proud to wear – or sell.

FAQ

With 1-to-1 coaching, you get undivided attention focused entirely on your machine, projects and questions. Group classes share the coach’s time among multiple learners, follow a set pace, and may not address every individual challenge – whereas private coaching adapts in real time to what you need most.

Private coaching costs more because you’re paying for personalized expertise, flexible scheduling, and customized solutions focused solely on your progress. You receive immediate, detailed feedback, direct problem-solving and lessons built specifically around your learning goals – not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

That depends on the level you choose. If you’re a raw beginner, we highly recommend that you first complete our Learn to Sew course in order to obtain foundational skills. Your coach will confirm prerequisites and help you choose the right entry point to ensure you get the most out of your sessions.

Yes – in most private coaching setups you work directly with your own machine, so that you learn on the exact equipment you use every day. This personalised focus helps you troubleshoot real, machine-specific issues.

No problem! You can easily book additional coaching sessions at an hourly rate of R495 per hour so you get the extra time you need to fully master specific techniques or solve lingering issues.

Because every session is tailored to your skill level and goals, many learners see faster progress compared with self-study or group classes.

Immediate, personalized feedback means you spend less time guessing and more time stitching with confidence.

Absolutely! You’re encouraged to let us know the exact topics you want to focus on – from machine basics to advanced techniques – and coaching will be structured to tackle the areas you care about most.
